On Saturday, September 19th, at 6:30 pm, an event featuring author Thomas Schlesser will take place at the former small church of Nigrignano in Sarnico; he will present his new novel, "Il Gatto del Giardiniere" (The Gardener's Cat).
Following the international success of "Gli occhi di Monna Lisa"—translated into 32 languages, published in over 60 countries, and named Book of the Year by Barnes & Noble in the United States—Thomas Schlesser sets his new novel in a quiet town in Provence.
A taciturn, solitary gardener, known to all for his extraordinary skill in caring for plants, meets Thalie, a former literature teacher who has recently moved to the town with her husband. Sensing the pain hidden behind the man's silence, Thalie decides to reach out to him through what he loves most: poetry. What begins almost by chance—with the reading of a few verses while he works in the garden—slowly evolves into an intense human and emotional journey. Through the words of great poets, both ancient and modern, the novel reflects on the consoling power of literature, the possibility of healing inner wounds, and the strength of shared emotions. It is a delicate yet powerful book that celebrates poetry as a means of connection, remembrance, and rebirth.
