The Zone Pyramids Regional Nature Reserve

Hugging the eastern shore of Lake Iseo, SS 510, we reach Marone and here, take the turnoff for Zone.

After an ascent of around 8 km. we arrive at Cislano, a district in the Zone municipality, where a convenient car-park with a games park is the setting off point of this tour (S.Giorgio XII century small church).

The well-signed path leads through a wood, with various stopping points to closely observe the earth pyramids close up.

You will find a wealth of information boards illustrating the formation of this phenomenon, due to the characteristics of the morainal earth and rainwater erosion.

The largest of these pyramids reaches 30 m. in height, has a diameter at the base of around 8 m. and is crowned by boulder with a diameter of around 4 m.
